Hi guys, I’ve been asked a lot lately on how to get oil rig work.
You know what? It isn’t that hard. Even in this economy, the oil rigs are desperate for workers, and they give a very healthy paycheck.
Ok, so there are basically two ways to get Oil Rig Work, you could go check the job listings or you do as me and send out your resume to each and every oil and gas company out there.

I’ve always preferred to send out my resume and I had pretty good results with this method. I think the chance that they’ll respond is much bigger when you do it like this.
When you send out your resume to the oil rig companies (manually or trough a service like rigworker) you’ll have to wait until there’s a opening at one of the rigs. Needless to say, the more resumes you send out, the quicker you’ll get a job.
If you don’t have any prior experience with oil rig work, you’ll start as a Roustabout, your main duties will be cleaning, moving of equipment, painting and other manual labor. The pay is usually around $47.000.

There are also different types of Rigs to work on. There is the platform, the Semi Submersible, The Jack Up and the Drill Ship. If you are willing to work on any of these, then you’ll find work much quicker than if you have preferences.
To round up, it’s very easy to find oil rig work these days, the oil companies is estimated to use $400 billion to look for oil – in 2009. This means there is and will be lots of openings available to those who want to work at rigs.

Im a hard working 25yr old floridian lookin for a way to get a bigger peice of the pie . im married with two kids allways lookin for a way to make an extra buck.being an frammer ive developed a healthy dose of allertness and respect for work safty issues.I beileve i am a fast learning optomist with need for a daily regimint of hardwork to keep the juices flowin .
